Nanotechnology
The latest possible threat to health is the inclusion of nanotechnological substances in foods, food packaging and even supplements. For detailed information on this subject and for lists of consumer products that already contain nano substances go to the following:
- The nanotech project website
- Environmental Working Group also has a list of products that contain nano substances
- Recent studies have shown that plastic, especially microbeads, and nano-particles of plastic have now contaminated most of our ecosystems. One of the most disturbing articles to come out recently is about bottled mineral water and the plastic particles it contains.
Artificial Sweeteners
Aspartame
A classic example of a toxic substance added into a large number of foods is aspartame, the artifical sweetener, now used by millions all over the world.
